Ofentse Manage is the second young woman from our orphan care center to graduate from university. Her life in the township of Soshanguve looked so uncertain when she lost her parents at the age of nine. Her four siblings were split up and she grew up with an aunt and her two children. Ofentse was one of the first children at the Lesedi-Potlana center in 2011. An earmarked donation allowed us to sponsor children in a private school. In the ten years that she was in our support program, things did not always go smoothly for Ofentse. But now she benefited from the fact that she was used to daily challenges from an early age. She overcame various setbacks and worked hard to achieve her goal.
With success! On March 19, 2024, we were proud to attend the graduation ceremony at the University of Johannesburg, where Ofentse received her Bachelor's degree in Human Resource Management.
Most of the graduates from the University of Johannesburg - over 90% of the 130 in Human Resource Management - were still looking for work at the time of the graduation ceremony. Ofentse was all the more delighted when she was able to take up a position (internship for one year) in a law firm in March.
