New Cohort

Thanks to dedicated donations, we were once again able to offer ten motivated young people the opportunity to participate in the one-year “Handyperson” training program this spring. The participants were selected from many unemployed young adults who applied for the program. This marks the fifth group of young people from Soshanguve that we have been able to support on their path toward greater skills, confidence, and future employment opportunities. We are happy to continue investing in the potential of these young adults and look forward to following their progress throughout the year.

We are particularly pleased that, once again, two former members of our center are among the selected young people. Neo Mathembi (right), who left the center in 2022, and Koketso Mgiba (left), who successfully completed his school education at the end of last year, are part of this training cohort. Both are highly motivated to take advantage of the opportunity offered to them and to actively shape their future. At the same time, they also want to express their connection to the House of Encouragement and give back some of the support they received during their time at the center. Such developments bring us great joy and reaffirm our goals.

At Tshwane North College, Mamelodi Campus, the students are effectively trained and prepared for practical work
